Summery watermelon salad
The summer classic that should not be missing at any barbecue party is the watermelon feta salad. We also love this summer dish:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 watermelon
- 200g feta
- 1 red onion
- 1 bunch of fresh mint
- olive oil
Preparation:
In order to be able to cut a watermelon safely, we recommend that you choose the right knife. Most commercially available kitchen knives are too blunt and pose a high risk of injury. We use the classic Santoku knife made of Damascus steel for most kitchen work. Due to their processing , Damascus knives are extremely robust and stable. A very special eye-catcher is ourABALONE series : Damascus knives with a handle with abalone shells.
Carefully cut the watermelon into bite-sized cubes using your kitchen knife of choice. Also cut the feta into small cubes. You can use the same knife for this or, if you prefer, a smaller all-purpose knife . You can then place both in a large salad bowl.
Then wash the mint thoroughly and gently hit it against the kitchen counter to release the essential oils. This will give the mint a more intense flavor. Separate the leaves from the stem and put the smaller leaves directly into your bowl with the watermelon and feta. You can roughly chop the larger leaves and add them to your salad. Then add a generous amount of olive oil to your salad.
The feta in brine gives the salad a salty balance to the sweet watermelon. The special components make this unusual salad a real explosion of flavor.
With these few ingredients you can quickly conjure up a light summer salad that is a must-have at a barbecue.
